Description
These three indispensable Woodworking Tools come in a lovely pine, presentation and storage box. Both planes are made of cast iron, with brass accents and carbon steel blades. Use the #4 Smoothing Plane to square and smooth boards during final finishing. The #60½ Block Plane has an adjustable mouth, making it a useful all-purpose tool and to help avoid tear-outs. The 9½" long Spokeshave is used for shaping and smoothing rounded pieces like table or chair legs or lamps. (Traditionally, a Spokeshave was used to shape wagon wheel spokes, hence the name). The carbon steel blade is 2¹÷°" long. The pine storage box is 11" x 9¾" x 2¾" tall. A great kit for a furniture maker, or for general shop use.

"I had been looking for a high quality planer to replace an older, simple (but functional) Japanese square hand plane I had. I also had a cheap spokeshave from a decade ago. The difference in quality is so apparent - the sold of the spoke is perfectly milled and easy to work out-of-the-box. Great pickup with beautiful packaging."

Will take some tuning
"I bought this not expecting high end quality. I was correct with regard to the plane. The sole was nearly flat and took only a few minutes on a granite stone to true it. The major problem was the blade could not be advanced beyond a few thousands of an inch. This is fine if you are only taking exceptionally fine shavings but not if you want a more aggressive cut. The problem is the screw holding the blade and chip breaker hits the frog casting preventing any additional advancement. Fortunately, my son has a milling machine and after relieving a sixteenth of an inch or so, I can now make a reasonable aggressive cut. It now is an acceptable plane for general shop work. The block plane works fine. I have not tried the spokeshave, but it appears to be usable for the intended use."

"I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of all ( 3 ) planes that come in a sturdy dovetailed box with brass closures. . . The #4 plane appears to be made from high quality cast iron & steel & machined to a very fine finish. Hardwood handles with brass accessories throughout. The bench plane, again is well built & fully adjustable. . . The spokeshave looks good, I haven't really put it to the test just yet. Made in India as best I can tell at this point. . . Disassembling the frog should give me better insight into it's actual origins however. . . I expect to get many years of service out of these tools. Bill on the Hill. . . :~)"
Locking lever broken
"Other than the locking lever breaking on the large smoothing plane, after only a few uses, the set appears to be decent enough. I am trying to find out if the lever can be replaced, but when I enquired via email to customer service, I got a automated reply. Most likely I'll need to call them. I used the spokeshave to make a couple of handles for mallets and it worked well."
