One Family, One Design, Since 1906
Harry Gerstner was twenty-two, fresh from a four-year woodworking apprenticeship, when he built a tool chest as a side project. It caught on. With a hundred-dollar bonus he started a company — and named it “H. Gerstner & Sons” because it sounded established, though he would go on to raise three daughters and never have a son.
More than a century later the company is still family-owned and still building chests from Harry’s original drawings. Of the twenty-some workshops making wooden tool chests in his day, Gerstner is the only one left. The dark oak chest in this set belongs to the Gerstner International line — built to those original designs in Gerstner’s own overseas factory, finished in oak veneer with the felt-lined, locking drawers that made the name.

The Chest
A Felt-Lined Place for the Tools That Matter
Twelve inches wide, eight deep, fourteen tall — small enough for a desk or a benchtop, deep enough to keep a working collection secure and organized. Six drawers, all felt-lined: four shallow at 1¼″ tall for bits, gauges, and small parts, and two deeper at 2¼″ for the things that need more room.
